Open Access & Other Freely Available Collections Available Through reSearcher (CUFTS and CJDB)
The following collections of peer-reviewed, scholarly journals, and vetted lists of quality, freely available serials, are all freely available to anyone over the internet, as an A to Z list or a MARC records to download for your library catalogue. Downloadable tab-delimited or .csv title lists are available for many of these lists (links below). Any data downloadable from this page belongs to the public domain, under the emerging norms for sharing of data. That is, feel free to download and use this data any way you choose, including commercial uses; but be responsible. For example, if you have lists of free or open access collections, please share those freely, too - and please send us the URL! As a default, open access collections are set up in CUFTS for all BC ELN partner libraries, and added to OutLook OnLine to facilitate free access for all users of this gateway to BC's public and post-secondary libraries.

The Collections
- Bioline International. Not-for-profit electronic publishing service committed to providing open access to quality research journals published in developing countries. 66 journals as of September 2010. download title list in csv format
- BioMedCentral. 237 journals as of September 1, 2010 (up from 210 journals as of August 17, 2009). Articles are immediately, freely available. Subscriptions may be required for other content, such as reviews or paper reports. download title list in tab-delimited format
- BioOne Open Access. 9 titles. BioOne is a global, not-for-profit collaboration bringing together scientific societies, publishers, and libraries to provide access to critical, peer-reviewed research in the biological, ecological, and environmental sciences. Title lists are available from the BioOne site.
- Canadian Historic Newspapers - new March 2009 - 89 titles. The Canadian Historic Newspapers title list was hand-created by SFU Library's Faith Jones, from digitized resources available at a number of sites including Multicultural Canada, Multicultural Alberta, Peel's Prairie Provinces, Manitobia, Bibilotheque Nationale du Quebec, and the Prince George Newspaper Project, to name a few. view title list. download title list in tab delimited format
- Directory of Open Access Journals . Over 5,330 titles as of September 2010 (up from 4,200 titles as of August 2009). Librarian-vetted list of fully open access, peer-reviewed scholarly journals. Frequently updated, growing at rate of 1-2 titles per day. To download a title list, go to the DOAJ site.
- GreenFILE (EBSCO) 598 titles as of April 2009. (New) download title list in tab delimited format
- elanguage. 6 journals as of August 14, 2009 Brief description of the eLanguage project from the Linguistic Society of America website: The goal of the eLanguage Project is to effectively utilize modern, web-based publishing technologies in order to provide researchers in the the academic discipline of Linguistics with a platform for the management of peer-reviewed, open-access electronic journals. This collection is expected to grow significantly in the near future.

Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online) A substantial collection of open access journals from Latin American countries (Brazil, Chile, Cuba, and Spain). Not yet available through reSearcher.
Potential Future Collections
This area is for interesting potential future lists, generally where there does not appear to be a spreadsheet available for quick download and upload into CUFTS.BT Net.
