Re: BC ELN Training Planning 2005/2006
** Feedback welcome ~ preferably by October 12, 2005 **
BC ELN is in the early stages of planning for training opportunities for 2005/2006. At this time, your comments, suggestions, and questions would be much appreciated.
Following is an overview of tentative plans to date, reflecting early responses from vendors. All vendors are being canvassed for training opportunities, whether in person or online. Please note that no specific dates or events have been set yet; registration details will follow at a later date.
EBSCO: Kara Gourley, Lower Mainland, Dec. 5 - 7. Additional in-person sessions may be set up in January. Group webcast training can be set up based on demand.
Micromedia ProQuest: Doug Peabody. Victoria, Kamloops, Vancouver, Dec. 7 - 9.
BC Stats: Paul Gosh is available for training in Victoria and Nanaimo, date t.b.a.
Cambridge Scientific Abstracts can accomodate some in-person training.
reSearcher:
GODOT / CUFTS Administration: later this semester, following completion of transfer of all configuration options to GODOT Version 2.
CJDB training and/or DBWIZ presentation: will canvas for interest, later this semester.
ELN Connect article on vendor online / webcast training opportunities: December 2005.
BC ELN Presentations at partner libraries: on request.
Any comments, questions, or suggestions are much appreciated. Some specific areas where your feedback is sought:
Products / services: specific products or services of interest
Timing: preferred timing, preferably in broad ranges, e.g. months or half months (October, late October, early December, etc.).
Offers to host in-person training session are always appreciated.
Online distance training: the first BC ELN group online sessions were held earlier this year, for EBSCO Admin. Since this is a new area, ideas and suggestions on products / services / topics, timing, etc., for the next set of sessions, would be most helpful.
cheers,
