CUFTS Free! Google Spreadsheets Procedures
Simple Procedures for entering data in Google spreadsheets for OA Magazines and OA Journals lists.Add new journals at the top of the list so that we can all see what is new. Leading articles should be omitted from titles. eg. The Journal of cloudy weather should be entered as Journal of cloudy weather. ISSNs cannot have a hyphen. eg. 1234-5678 should be entered as 12345678 Date is to be in format YYYY-MM-DD (the standard CUFTS format) Embargo periods should be entered in months. eg. if a journal has an embargo period of four months, then enter the number 4 in the embargo column.
SFU will upload the Google Spreadsheets into CUFTS every Wednesday.

More tips on adding tips from the CUFTS experts:
- Try to find an ISSN. Use Amicus or the WorldCat web ISSN History tool.
- Do not us a "v" or "n" in the volumn or issue column
- Be sure to use a start date. If there is no start date CUFTS will throw it away. If you can not find a start date then perhaps the title is not a candidate for CUFTS.
- Watch for dropped leading zeros in the ISSN field. If the format of a number cell is text you will not have this problem. There must be 8 digits (or 7 and an x)
- The former instructions in the Spreadsheet updating procedures which was to add new titles at the top of the list rather than at the bottom is still helpful as it alerts us to new content. However it is not as important now that we will try to export the full list each new upload.
- Leading articles should be omitted from titles. eg. The Journal of cloudy weather should be entered as Journal of cloudy weather.
- Date is to be in format YYYY-MM-DD (the standard CUFTS format)
- Embargo periods should be entered in months. ie: If the information says 16 weeks just enter the digit 4.
