Re: Multi-Sector Bundle - full text titles with subject categorization
We are pleased to be able to provide you with a subject analysis of all the full text titles contained in the Multi-Sector Bundle. This includes the full text titles from each of the databases with duplicate entries removed so that each title appears only once with a corresponding subject heading.
It can be found at: http://www.eln.bc.ca/MSB_FT_Titles_Sub.xls
The list is impressive at over 41,000 unique full text titles across the Bundle. We hope the subject categorization will assist you in targeting and marketing specific titles aligning with academic programs at your institution. Because it is a downloadable Excel document, you may wish to manipulate the data to provide analysis beyond the subject level. For example, the Source Type column could be used to organize the list by the different formats if you wanted to target only academic journals or ebooks in specific subject areas.
* Please note that the list is a snapshot current to September 2008 and will not be updated with new or ceased titles.
We wanted to review the new Ebsco enhancement that allows concurrent multiple database searching. This may be especially useful as it does allow users to search all your health sciences databases simultaneously. This can be achieved by adding the database short names at the end of your URL string, separated by commas. The following URL will search Health Source: Consumer Edition (hxh), Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition (hch), Alt HealthWatch (awh) and Consumer Health Complete (c9h): http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&profile=ehost&defaultdb=hxh,hch,awh,c9h
More information regarding concurrent database searching can be found on our Multi-Sector Bundle page at http://www.eln.bc.ca/view.php?id=1580 – look specifically at the Ebsco Set-up Instructions file.
Lastly, we wanted to ensure that libraries were aware of the two different interfaces available for Consumer Health Complete:
2. The custom search interface, which provides a thematic approach to searching, is available by pointing at: http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&profile=chc
Please remember that providing database access to your students is the most important part of this project! You can find all the Multi-Sector Bundle correspondences to date, the implementation plan and the background information on our web site at http://www.eln.bc.ca/view.php?id=1580.
Do not hesitate to contact the BC ELN Office should you have any questions.
