Background
BC ELN deploys two primary mechanisms, the Resources Forum and the Ranking Survey, to solicit library input in identifying database titles that might be licenced on a consortial level. The Resources Forum allows partner libraries to nominate products which they feel should be considered for licensing, and to "recommend" and comment on each other's nominations. The second step in the process is the Ranking Survey, which asks each library to identify, in ranked order, its top three preferences from the broader considerata list compiled through the Forum. During the following year, the BC ELN Office obtains additional information on the top-ranked products and, where feasible, coordinates trials and proceeds to full licensing.
