BC ELN joins the Integrated Cadastral Information Society

From the Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICIS) Spring Newsletter:

ICIS is pleased to announce that the British Columbia Electronic Library Network has now joined ICIS as an Affiliate Member.

The British Columbia Electronic Library Network is a partnership between the Province of British Columbia and its post-secondary libraries. BC ELN's purpose is to develop, promote and maintain system-wide mechanisms that allow post-secondary libraries to meet the expanding information needs of the province's learners, educators, and researchers at the lowest possible cost.

The ICIS data will be used by faculty, students, and staff for research and educational purposes. Such educational purposes may include: use in curriculum for courses requiring spatial data i.e. GIS, Geography, developing applications using representations of the data, training Police and Fire through the Justice Institute of BC and in a myriad research projects.

This will provide a future workforce trained in the use of ICIS data and will aid in improving the economic and social benefit of British Columbia.

Please welcome the British Columbia Electronic Library Network into the ICIS Membership Community.

Details about this project can be found on the ICIS and the Province of BC Data page.
