Undergraduate Foundation Collection Successfully Renewed

We're very pleased to announce that the Undergraduate Foundation Collection (UFC) has successfully been renewed for a three-year term through May 31, 2015. All participating libraries chose to renew at their current subscription levels. Post-secondary learners across BC will continue to benefit from access to the exceptional content in the collection. The BC ELN office would like to thank all libraries for their swift responses to the April survey, and for the various thoughtful feedback received about the UFC.

Background

The Undergraduate Foundation Collection is a suite of essential, foundational databases for meeting the needs of undergraduate learners from the smallest college to the largest university. Currently, 31 BC ELN partner libraries are participating in the UFC. The UFC was originally launched in 2008 with a two-year license term thanks to funding support from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development. In 2010 the UFC was converted to a model where costs are fully sustained by participating libraries.

Together these two products include almost 10,000 fulltext journals covering the whole range of undergraduate academic disciplines.

Tens of thousands of BC learners are benefiting from the UFC through increased access to content. The Undergraduate Foundation Collection is a tremendous achievement for BC post-secondary libraries.
